Beaux

acrylic 16x20

Here is Beaux, the black lab that comes to stay with us from time to time.  He is such a beauty, I wanted to paint him.

The Pampered Pooch
Zachary, LA

Here are both paintings, "Beaux" and "A Little Chocolate", hanging proudly at The Pampered Pooch dog spa.  I think they look great on this green wall.  Perhaps they will sell or someone may want a commissioned painting done of their "fur-child".

A Little Chocolate
16x20 acrylic on canvas
This curious puppy belongs to a friend of mine.  Here he is peering out over the edge of the truck bed, to see what is going on.

Looking Back

soft pastel on sanded paper    12x18

These are some of the cows I see behind my house.  This adorable calf was standing next to her mother.  My being there caught their attention.  This is my second in the cow series.  I would also like to paint some more cows in a mini painting series.  A 5x7 size would be nice.

Kiwi is part dachshund and part Chihuahua.  As a result, one ear always stays up while the other is always down.  Jack enjoys relaxing in the pine straw.

Memorial Gift for Judy the Elephant

I was saddened to learn after painting this watercolor of Judy and Bozie, Judy the elephant died.  See link for full article http://www.brzoo.org/index.cfm?md=newsroom&tmp=detail&articleID=601

As a memorial gift, I presented a framed print of my "Two Elephants" painting to the Baton Rouge Zoo.

The original painting is still available and can be viewed at Joie Petite Designs, 4257 Church Street in Zachary, LA

On the Boardwalk

acrylic 16x20
I captured this image of my kids as they walked along a boardwalk on the island of Kosrae.  We went there during Christmas break in 2011, while living on Guam.  This rustic resort had boardwalks and sandy trails that connected the huts.

Sun Kissed

watercolor 11x14

I have been wanting to try my hand at painting clear glass.  I set up this still life outside on my patio on a sunny day.  I wanted to see strong shadows.  I thought the oranges added a nice splash of color in the sunlight.

Ctenosaur

"Ctenosaur"
watercolor 12x16

Ctenosaur?  What is that?  That's what I said.  Looking through some 2008 vacation photos to Costa Rica, I decided to paint this guy.  I thought it was an iguana.  But after looking into it, I discovered it is called a ctenosaur (tina-sore).  They can run 35km/h but luckily this guy didn't chase me when I got in for a close up photo.  And they are herbivores for the most part, so I didn't have much to worry about.  They can grow to 1 meter in length but this guy wasn't nearly that long.

Here is another photo of the one who liked to join us for breakfast at the open air restaurant.  I have to assume he is absorbing heat from the sun and warm concrete.

Two Elephants

watercolor
12x16
I saw this charming duo while visiting the Baton Rouge Zoo.  I used a trio of blue, yellow and burnt sienna (no gray) for my palette.
