I attempt to capture light and color that breathe life into the subjects I paint. I wish to carry the viewer on this journey with me, to find interest in the ordinary.
watercolor 11x14 2010 Bougainvillea grows all around Guam. While out for a walk, I saw this pink bougainvillea growing over a gate and it caught my eye. I have more photos of this flower and may paint a close up of it again at some point.
Oh my goodness - I love LOVE this painting! You have done such a wonderful job with the flowers nd the shadows. My sister-in-law's daughter and her family are going to Guam soon (her husband is in the military). I encourage you to please DO paint more bougainvillea! It's lovely.
Thank you so much Jeanie. Actually it ended up not being my personal favorite because I had to put it away for a few weeks after starting it. My kids were sick and I got busy. I felt somewhat detatched from it and got a little lost in how I wanted to finish it. I just ordered a new color (W&N opera rose) which is supposed to be the best pink for flowers. I'll do another version. Please give your SIL daughter my new email pope.lisa@ymail.com , I would be more than happy to answer any questions about Guam.
